SINGAPORE - The 2025 World Para Swimming Championships have concluded, with Golden Hawk swimmer
Katie Cosgriffe winning a silver medal in the S10 100m backstroke and a bronze medal in the S10 100m butterfly for Canada, breaking her own national record in the event.
Cosgriffe competed in four individual events and two relays. She placed fourth in the SM10 200m individual medley and seventh in the S10 50m freestyle. Her team finished fifth in the mixed 4x100m 34pt medley relay and seventh in the mixed 4x100m 34pt freestyle relay.
The business math major from Burlington, Ont., was joined by Golden Hawk teammate Alec Elliot on the Canadian contingent. This was Elliot's fifth Para World Swimming Championship and the second for Cosgriffe. Both were selected to represent Canada on the world stage based on their performances at the 2025 Bell Canadian Swimming Trials.
Elliot competed in three events, reaching the S10 400m freestyle finals and finishing seventh.
The biology major from Kitchener, Ont., also placed tenth in the SM10 200m individual medley and eleventh in the S10 100m butterfly.
Cosgriffe, Elliot, and the entire Laurier swim team will dive into their season's first competition on October 4 at the Raven's Tri-Meet hosted by Carleton in Ottawa.
