WATERLOO, Ont. The Golden Hawks swim team hosted the Waterloo Warriors on Halloween night in a loud and festive competition that ended up being one of the closest Battle of Waterloo's to date. 

The meet started with a ton of cheering from the crowd as the 4x50m medley relay got ready to go. Laurier's women's relays finished third, fifth, sixth and seventh. While the men's relays finished second, third, six, seventh, and eighth.  

In the 50m butterfly Owen Jibb and Andy Jiang finished second and third, while George Radic was fifth.  

The Hawks swept the 200m back podium with Danica Penner, Katarina Brezovan, and Tara Tavoularis going one, two, three. While on the men's side, Carson Pyzer touched the wall in second.  

Olivia Francis and Morgan Pequin kept the momentum up for the Hawks, touching the wall first and third in the 50m freestyle. On the men's side, Griffin Oldman reached the podium in third with Callum MacGregor in fifth.  

In the 100m breaststroke Olivia Frost finished fourth overall on the women's side, while William Bryer finished fourth on the men's side.  

Isabella Ste. Marie charged to a fifth-place finish in the 50m back on the women's side. While Jibb and Tyler Greenwood finished side by side in second and third respectively.  

Francis got her second win of the night in the 100m freestyle, touching the wall in first place with Addison Card and Hannah Thompson close by in fourth and fifth respectively. Jiang and Daniel Romagnoli found the podium on the men's side in second and third overall.  

Ste. Marie kept the win streak going for the Hawks with a first-place finish in the 200 IM with Olivia Williams close by in third. Radic finished first on the men's side with Jacob Wahba and Alec Elliot in fourth and fifth.  

In the 50m breaststroke Forst finished fifth overall on the women's side with John Ryan and Bryer touching the wall in fourth and fifth on the men's side.  

Francis Soared back onto the podium in the 100m butterfly with a second-place finish while Katie Marton finished fifth. Greenwood also Soared to second on the men's side with Caleb Johnston close behind in fifth.  

The 200m freestyle saw Card finish fourth on the women's side. While a Flock of Hawks charged the podium on the men's side with Jibb winning, Jiang in second and Romagnoli in fourth.  

The success continued in the 100m backstroke with Emma Young winning the event with Pequin, and Brezovan in fourth and fifth for the women. While Radic won the event for the men.  

In the 200m breaststroke Marton finished fourth overall, while Dylan Murray won the event on the men's side with Wahba in fourth.  

The last event of the night was the 4x50m freestyle. The crowd got to their feet to cheer the Hawks on, and it became one of the most electric events of the night.  

On the women's side the 'A' relay finished third just tenths of a second behind Waterloo and the 'B' relay finished fifth. On the men's side, the 'A' relay finished second, less than four-tenths behind Waterloo. While the 'B' relay finished fourth.
