ST. CATHARINES, Ont. — The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks earned multiple podium finishes and event victories at the Brock Invitational over the weekend, competing against OUA rivals Brock, McMaster, Guelph and York.
The meet opened with the 4x50-metre medley relay, where Laurier's women's "A," "B" and "C" teams placed third, fourth and eighth, respectively. The men's "A" relay claimed first place, while the "B" and "C" squads finished seventh and eighth.
In the first individual event, the 400m freestyle, Addison Card finished third for the women, followed closely by Olivia Francis in fourth. Hannah Thompson and Bella Ste. Marie also contributed valuable points with seventh- and eighth-place finishes. On the men's side, Owen Jibb and Jacob Wahba went one-two in the event, while Liam Telky and Caleb Johnston placed sixth and seventh.
Brandon Brock was the lone Laurier swimmer in the 400m individual medley, earning a second-place finish.
In the 50m backstroke, Emma Young placed seventh for the women, while Alec Elliot and Connor Cartier finished seventh and eighth, respectively, for the men.
The 100m freestyle featured a deep Golden Hawks lineup, led by George Radic in fourth. Daniel Romagnoli and Griffin Oldman tied for fifth, and Callum MacGregor finished eighth.

In the 200m butterfly, Aleesha Tejani placed sixth for the women, while Tyler Greenwood and Liam Telky went one-two for the men. Sawyer Kay narrowly missed the podium, finishing fifth.
Olivia Frost and Owen Jibb came close to podium positions in the 100m breaststroke, finishing fourth and fifth, respectively.
Bella Ste. Marie returned Laurier to the podium with a third-place finish in the 200m backstroke. Olivia Francis then added another medal with a second-place result in the 50m freestyle. On the men's side, Ben Flint finished fifth, Greenwood seventh and Romagnoli eighth.
Katie Marton placed sixth in the women's 200m individual medley, while Laurier's men swept the podium in the event, with Radic, Oldman and John Ryan finishing first, second and third. Johnston and Kay followed in fifth and seventh.
Frost was the only Golden Hawk to place in the top eight of the 50m breaststroke, finishing fourth overall.
The Hawks returned to the podium in the 200m freestyle, with Francis finishing third and Card sixth. Wahba earned third for the men, followed by Romagnoli, MacGregor and Flint in fifth through seventh.
In the 100m butterfly, Alex Lett placed eighth for the women, while Jibb and Radic finished second and fourth, respectively, for the men.
Frost and Johnston were the lone Laurier entries in the 200m breaststroke, finishing sixth and fourth.
In the 100m backstroke, Katie Cosgriffe earned a third-place finish, with Young and Ste. Marie placing fourth and seventh. Carson Pyzer was fifth in the men's event.
The final individual race, the 50m butterfly, saw Lett and Will Bryer each finish eighth.
Laurier closed out the meet with strong performances in the 4x50m freestyle relays. The women's "A" team earned second place, with the "B" and "C" teams finishing sixth and eighth. The men's "A" relay won the event, while the "C" team placed seventh.
