REGINA, Sask. - The Laurier Golden Hawks men's curling team delivered a statement performance on day two of pool play at the 2026 U SPORTS/Curling Canada Championship, earning a pair of convincing wins at the Callie Curling Club.

The Golden Hawk rink skipped by Kibo Mulima, with vice Landan Rooney, second Wyatt Small and lead Wyatt Wright rounding out the lineup, opened the day with an 8-3 win over the York University Lions, the OUA bronze medalists.

After a blank first end, the Golden Hawks capitalized in the second, scoring three to seize early control. Laurier added singles in the third and seventh ends before closing the door with two in the eighth.

In the evening draw, Laurier carried that momentum into an 8-2 win over the host Regina Cougars.

Laurier opened the scoring with a single in the second end and added another in the third to take a 2-1 lead.

After blanking the fourth and fifth to retain hammer, the Golden Hawks broke the game open in the sixth with three.

They followed that up with a steal of two in the seventh to extend the advantage to 7-2, prompting a concession from the Cougars.

 

It will be a pivotal Thursday for Laurier as the Golden Hawks will play both Calgary (2 pm ET) and Memorial (9 pm ET) on the penultimate day of the round robin, with the teams currently in a three-way tie for second place at 2-1.

The OUA silver medalist Carleton Ravens are the lone undefeated team remaining with a 3-0 record.
