WATERLOO, Ont. - Golden Hawks Kayla Renaud and Lucas Chard are the Laurier Athletes of the Week, presented by The Hawk Shop. 

Renaud, a fourth-year kinesiology/physical education major from Amherstburg, Ont., led the women's hockey team to their 11th straight victory against Windsor.  

The veteran goaltender recorded her third shutout of the season in the team's 3-0 win, saving all 25 shots she faced. The Golden Hawks were shorthanded three times in the game, but Renaud shut the door and was the team's best penalty killer.  

In eight starts this season, Renaud is third in the OUA in goals against average (1.08) and save percentage (.944), and second in win percentage (.875) and has the second fewest goals against (9).  

Laurier's goalies have been the top of the top this season, fueling the team to first in the OUA and third in the country with the OUA's best goals against average (0.940) and save percentage (0.954), along with the league's lowest goals against (19) and fewest powerplay goals against (4). 

Chard, a third-year communication studies major from Burlington, Ont., has been a top performer for the men's hockey team.  

Against #10-ranked TMU, Chard scored the game's opening goal in an eventual overtime loss, and against Western he had two goals, one of which came on the powerplay. Chard was a big reason the Golden Hawks were able to pick up three of four points over two games.  

His three-goal weekend saw him collect his eighth multi point game and second two-goal game of the season, and is now on a 1.29 points per game pace. Chard's efforts have contributed to the Golden Hawks sitting third in the OUA West and firmly in a playoff position.  

Chard is third in the OUA and leads the team in points (27), while sitting sixth in the league in goals (12).  

This was the third Laurier Athlete of the Week award for Renaud and first for Chard.
