ORLANDO, Fla. - Laurier's varsity cheerleading team travelled to Orlando, Florida to compete at the University World Cheerleading Championships, showcasing incredible talent across their Game Day and Premier teams.
After impressive exhibitions, they were ready for competition day.
The Premier team competed in a highly competitive division of six teams, including the University of South Florida.
With a nearly flawless routine (only a single point in deductions), they demonstrated outstanding technique.
They earned the highest scores in their division for stunt technique, pyramid technique, tumbling, and overall impression.
Their performance also made them the top-scoring Canadian team in the Premier divisions, including both small and large coed.
Meanwhile, the Game Day team, which is new this season, placed third out of seven teams with an extraordinary zero-deduction routine. They also earned the prestigious Nations Cup, which was awarded to the top Canadian Game Day team.
Laurier cheerleading head coach Carli Thomas expressed pride in both teams, saying, "We are so proud of both teams for their incredible performances in such deep and competitive divisions. The team looks amazing, and we can't wait to start working on our national's routine in February."
The PCA Cheer Canada Collegiate Nationals competition will take place at the CAA Centre in Brampton on Saturday, February 15.
