WATERLOO, Ont. (April 5, 2022) – The 2021-22 school year featured stops and starts, pivots and unexpected challenges but through it all the Wilfrid Laurier Department of Athletics and Recreation's sport clubs persevered.
The 2021-22 season marked the return to play for sport clubs, with many new executives and faces on rosters it was a year of learning and celebrating the return to play.
The Department of Athletics and Recreation is pleased to recognize our sport clubs and executives for their continued effort and dedication to get their clubs back in action.
Anisha Mistry, the Student Clubs Supervisor worked directly with each club over the past three years and experienced first hand what went into the 2021-22 season. "It's been great to see our clubs bounce back into action this year, engaging in both virtual and in-person activity. In the last couple of years, our clubs have faced many challenges but have persisted through with their dedication and hard work. It is amazing to see the passion that our club's leaders hold for their sport as well as their team. Our club leaders and members are the backbone of this program and we could not have carried any of this out without their hard work, flexibility, and positivity. Amanda [Kelly, Coordinator Aquatics, Clubs & Camps] and I are inspired everyday by the passion and dedication of our club leaders as they have continuously pushed through to make play happen."
While not all clubs presented awards this season, the department extends their appreciation and acknowledges the effort that was put into the 2021-22 season.
