MLAX on the road for playoff match up this Sunday

WATERLOO, Ont. - The Laurier men's lacrosse team has been ramping up for an exciting Sunday playoff game hosted by the Guelph Gryphons for their chance to play for the Baggataway Cup.

The Golden Hawks and Gryphons met twice during the regular season, with Guelph winning both games. The Hawks are hungry to break the streak, with their goal to earn a playoff title for the first time since 2019 when they were eliminated in the first round by Brock.

"We're very excited to be gearing up for this weekend; you have playoffs in the back of your mind throughout the whole season. Guelph is a top team so it's definitely about bringing our best foot forward," says head coach, Leo Stouros.

The Hawks understand that a victory will require their best game since the Gryphons completed an impressive regular season posting a 9-1 record to finish 1st in the CUFLA West Division standings. The Hawks have used this as fuel going into the weekend knowing that they're taking on a challenge that will require them to work cohesively as a team and capitalize on their best offensive and defensive strengths.

"This is an exciting hometown rivalry and we feel that winning is nothing short of what we can accomplish. Our team is ready for the challenge," says Stouros.

The game is set for Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at the Gryphon Soccer Complex. Show your support in person or head to laxsn.com to stream the game live (link via cufla.ca).
