LONDON, Ont. - The Laurier Golden Hawks women's rugby team was handed a 60-0 defeat by the Western Mustangs on Friday night at Alumni Field.
The loss marked Laurier's seventh straight setback against Western dating back to 2019, as the Mustangs remained unbeaten on the season at 4-0. Western built momentum early and never looked back, crossing for multiple tries in each half to secure the shutout victory on home turf and remained tied with Guelph atop the OUA standings.
Despite the result, the Golden Hawks remain at .500 through four games with a 2-2 record as they enter the final two games of the regular season in a four-way tie for fourth with Brock, McMaster, and Waterloo.
Laurier will now prepare for another tough road test on Saturday, October 3, when they travel to Kingston to face the #4-ranked Queen's Gaels (3-1) at Nixon Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
