FENWICK, Ont. - Reigning OUA men's individual champion Dayton Price led the Laurier Golden Hawks with a runner-up finish Sunday at the Brock Invitational, helping the men's team place second overall at Sawmill Golf Course.
Price fired a one-over-par 73, finishing just two shots behind individual medalist Atlas Ibit of Brock.
The Golden Hawks men's squad posted a team score of 302, good for second place in the 10-team field and just three strokes back of tournament champion Brock, which carded a 299.
Price's strong start to the season was complemented by fellow Golden Hawk Matt Whitehead, who tied for third overall with a round of 74.
Spencer Korol added a 77 to tie for 11th, while rookie Stephen Moon recorded a 78 to share 19th place.
Fellow first-year Kian Gauthier rounded out Laurier's counting scores with an 83.
On the women's side, Laurier finished fourth among six teams with a score of 281. Olivea Pope and Ava Mauro paced the Golden Hawks after each carded rounds of 92, tying for ninth individually.
Alicia Cromack followed with a 97, while Alessia Lorimer shot 100.
The women's title went to Guelph with a team score of 242, while Mia Wong of Toronto claimed individual honours with a round of 75.
The Golden Hawks will continue their busy stretch on Monday.Laurier's men head to St. Thomas Golf and Country Club for the Western Men's Invitational, while the women's squad will compete at the Western Women's Invitational at West Haven Golf and Country Club, with both events taking place in Union.
