WATERLOO, Ont. - Laurier opened the 2026 Ontario University Athletics women's lacrosse season with a perfect 2-0 weekend on home turf Sunday, defeating the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks 14-9 in the morning before completing the sweep with a dominant 19-3 victory over the Toronto Varsity Blues at Ansley Alumni Field.

Laurier showcased its offensive firepower throughout the day, scoring 33 goals across the two contests while receiving contributions from a deep and balanced lineup.

The Golden Hawks were led offensively by Tori Nascimento, who recorded 13 goals over the two games.

Zoey Kruger erupted for seven goals against Toronto after adding two more against Ontario Tech, finishing the day with nine goals.

Tieneke Gedge contributed five goals across the doubleheader, while Sophia Laba tallied two goals and six assists.

Laurier 14 - Ontario Tech 9

The Golden Hawks began their season with a hard-fought victory over the Ridgebacks in Sunday's opening game.

Nascimento wasted little time making her presence felt, scoring five times to lead the offence, while Delaney Keen added a hat trick. Laba contributed a goal and four assists as Laurier built an 8-5 advantage at halftime.

Ontario Tech stayed within striking distance throughout the contest, but the Golden Hawks consistently found answers. Goals from Anna Bradley, Megan McGrath, Olivia Minor, Allison Goode and Gedge helped Laurier maintain control before pulling away late for the 14-9 win.

The victory featured goals from eight different Laurier players and marked a successful start to the campaign for head coach Tamara Grant's squad.

Laurier 19 - Toronto 3

The Golden Hawks followed their season-opening win with an even more impressive performance just hours later, overwhelming the Varsity Blues by a 19-3 scoreline.

Nascimento led the charge with eight goals and an assist, while Kruger added seven goals. Gedge chipped in four goals and an assist as Laurier built a commanding 10-2 halftime lead before outscoring Toronto 9-1 in the second half.

Laba recorded a goal and two assists, while Minor, Ryleigh Sproul and Aliyah Bonterre also found the back of the net in the victory.

After Toronto scored twice early in the contest to remain within reach, Laurier seized complete control, scoring 15 of the game's final 16 goals.
