WATERLOO, Ont. - The Laurier Golden Hawks women's lacrosse team has announced
its 2026 regular season schedule, featuring eight games across four competition dates.
Laurier opens the season on home turf on Saturday, September 13, hosting Ontario Tech and Toronto at Ansley Alumni Field.
The Golden Hawks will then travel to Ontario Tech on September 20 for match-ups against Trent and Queen's before heading to the University of Guelph on September 27 to take on Brock and Western.
The regular season concludes on October 3 when Laurier returns home to host McMaster and Guelph.
The Golden Hawks will then turn their attention to the OUA Championships, hosted by the defending champion Trent Excalibur, from October 16-18 in Peterborough.
Expectations are high for a Laurier squad motivated by last season's fourth-place finish and buoyed by a productive offseason under co-head coaches Tamara Grant and
Erica Shortt.
"The Hawks are on the hunt in 2026," said Grant. "We have had an extremely fruitful offseason. The Dome's (at University Stadium) impact has been instrumental in helping the team feel connected to a united goal of medaling in 2026."
Grant said the program has embraced a demanding offseason training schedule while using the disappointment of narrowly missing the podium in 2025 as added motivation.
"Our offseason training has been the most intense since I have been around," Grant said. "Everyone is still processing the fourth-place finish of 2025, and the team has channeled those feelings into action - working hard with strength and conditioning, team practices and showing up for each other. It is exciting to witness."
The Golden Hawks will also benefit from an incoming recruiting class that adds depth throughout the lineup and strengthens the program's future outlook.
"Our recruiting class has athletes to fill each position, from goalie to attack, so it is great to see our roster expanding healthily for continued growth into the future," said Grant. "We plan on building on our strong foundation and pushing ourselves to achieve success on the field as a united group."
With a condensed regular season featuring just eight games, Laurier's focus will be on maximizing development opportunities while positioning itself for a strong playoff run.
"Our season is short and sweet, and we are pushing to develop each student-athlete as well as a team to perform well in our regular season play and set ourselves up for a strong push in the playoffs to medal."
Admission is free for all Golden Hawk home games.
