WATERLOO, Ont. - Former Laurier Golden Hawks men's basketball head coach Justin Serresse has been named a global scout with the NBA's Dallas Mavericks, marking the latest milestone in a basketball career that has taken him from U SPORTS to the professional ranks.

The appointment comes after Serresse spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach with Raptors 905, the NBA G League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors. He joined the organization in 2024, extended his stay, and ultimately concluded his tenure at Laurier in April 2025.

"I'm incredibly excited and grateful to join the Dallas Mavericks and thankful to (team president) Masai (Ujiri) for trusting me with this opportunity," said Serresse.

"Moving from coaching into the front office as a global scout is a challenge I'm really looking forward to."

Serresse said his new role will draw upon the experience he gained throughout his coaching journey, particularly during his time leading the Golden Hawks program.

"I think my experience at Laurier, building rosters as both a head coach and manager of basketball operations, along with my background in France, my ties to Africa, and my experience with Team Canada have all prepared me well for this role," he said.
"I'm excited to keep learning, growing, and helping the organization however I can."

Serresse leaves behind a lasting legacy at Laurier, concluding his time with the Golden Hawks after eight years with the program, including seven seasons as head coach, compiling a 127-92 overall record and finishing as the second-winningest coach in program history.

Under his leadership, Laurier advanced to the OUA semifinals in both 2018-19 and 2019-20, with the former squad posting an 18-6 regular-season record, the best mark of his tenure. Following his first season at the helm, the Golden Hawks recorded six consecutive seasons with double-digit win totals, helping elevate the program's standing in the OUA.
