WATERLOO, Ont. - Laurier Golden Hawks men's basketball alum Taye Donald has signed with KK Dinamo Zagreb of Croatia's SuperSport Premijer Liga, the country's top-tier men's basketball league.

"I am very excited to join Dinamo and can't wait for the season to start," Donald said in a team release. "I am looking forward to meeting my teammates, playing at a high level, and giving my all to help the team achieve the best possible results."

The 24-year-old guard from St. Thomas, Ont., has enjoyed a strong start to his professional career that has already included stops in Finland and Canada's professional ranks.

Following his collegiate career, Donald signed his first professional contract with the Edmonton Stingers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) last summer, having previously spent a season with the club as a developmental player.

Before returning to Edmonton this year, Donald suited up for Tapiolan Honka in Finland's Korisliiga, the country's top professional basketball league.

In 32 regular season games, he averaged 14.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 5.6 assists per contest while finishing as the team's second-leading scorer. He carried that production into the playoffs, posting 13 points, two rebounds and three assists per game across five postseason appearances.

Back with the Stingers this summer, Donald has continued to make an impact. Through 16 games, he averaged 8.5 points, 3.5 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game.

Donald left Laurier as one of the most accomplished players in program history. Over 79 career games with the Golden Hawks, the 6'1" guard averaged 18.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists while playing 31.8 minutes per game.

He finished his OUA career with 1,129 points, becoming just the seventh player in program history to surpass the 1,000-point mark. His career scoring average of 18.5 points per game ranks fifth-highest (on record) in Golden Hawks men's basketball history.

A three-time team MVP, Donald earned U SPORTS Second Team All-Canadian honours in 2023-24 and was named an OUA First Team All-Star that same season.

He also collected OUA Second Team All-Star recognition in 2022-23 and 2024-25, cementing his place among the top players in the conference throughout his career.
