LEVIS, Que. -
Dayton Price closed the 2026 Canadian University Championship, presented by BDO, with a surge, leading the Laurier Golden Hawks at Golf La Tempête as the tournament was shortened to 54 holes due to weather.
Play was suspended just before noon local time Thursday because of heavy rainfall and resumed early Friday morning, forcing organizers to reduce the championship to three rounds.
Price, the Ontario University Athletics individual champion, delivered one of the top final rounds in the field. The communications studies major from Hamilton, Ont., fired a -3 (69) that featured two birdies, an eagle and a lone bogey, climbing 14 spots on the leaderboard to finish tied for 12th at -2 overall.
The best national's result by a Golden Hawks men's golfer remains Austin Ryan's -4 performance in 2018.
Price was followed closely by teammate
Matthew Whitehead, who posted a final-round 72 to finish the tournament at even par, good for a tie for 16th.
The result capped another strong national showing for the Cambridge, Ont., native, who finished ninth at the same tournament a year ago.
Anthony Jomphe of the Université de Montréal Carabins claimed the men's individual championship, finishing at -11.
Laurier's men's team finished tied for 13th overall alongside the Carleton Ravens with a combined score of +31 as the UBC Okanagan Heat captured their first national men's championship at -19.
On the women's side,
Kristi Godkin closed out her collegiate career in a tie for 18th place at +18.
The fifth-year captain from Orléans, Ont., opened the tournament in contention but ultimately settled into the top 20 following a challenging second round in the weather-affected event.
UBC's Katherine Hao captured the women's individual title at 1-under (72-71-72), finishing two strokes ahead of defending champion Julia Alexander-Carew of UBC Okanagan.
