LEVIS, Que. - The Laurier Golden Hawks men's golf team remains tied for 14th place after the second round of the 2026 Canadian University/College Championship at Golf La Tempête, posting a combined score of 22-over par through two days.
Laurier sits even with McMaster and McGill as the field approaches the cut, which is projected to settle around 5-under on the team side heading into Thursday's action.
Individually,
Matthew Whitehead led the Golden Hawks with an impressive 1-under round that featured three birdies and an eagle on the par-5 ninth hole. The fourth-year kinesiology & physical education major from Cambridge, Ont., climbed into a tie for 17th place at even par for the tournament.
OUA individual champion
Dayton Price, a communications studies major from Hamilton, Ont., also delivered a steady performance. After shooting 1-over through his opening nine holes, Price played bogey-free on the back nine while adding a birdie to finish at even-par. He sits at 1-over overall, good for 26th in the individual standings.
Further down the lineup, fifth-year business major and team captain
Conor Gaudet showed signs of improvement while continuing to battle illness, carding a 5-over 77.
Adam Brenton, the fourth-year business major from Hespeler, Ont., followed with a 6-over 78.
Fellow business major and second-year Stratford, Ont. native
Patrick Holloway opened his round at even par through nine holes but struggled on the back, finishing with a 10-over 82.
On the women's side, Laurier's
Kristi Godkin will look to regroup after slipping down the leaderboard following a difficult second round.
The fifth-year business major and Golden Hawks women's team captain from Orleans, Ont. Â shot 12-over 84, dropping into a three-way tie for 17th after beginning the tournament tied for second following her opening round.
Godkin will now look to close the gap in Thursday's round as she aims to move back within range of the cut line. To advance to Friday's final round, she will need to finish within five shots of third place following round three. UBC's Keira Hou currently holds that position at 2-over for the tournament.
Play continues Thursday as teams and individuals look to secure positions ahead of the tournament cut.
