UIJEONGBU, SOUTH KOREA - She's on top of the world ... again.
Golden Hawks Hall of Famer
Sarah Wilkes (BA '12, pictured third from right) won a second consecutive world title on Sunday at the
2025 LGT World Women's Curling Championship, playing lead for the Ottawa-based Team Homan rink representing Canada.
The 7-3 win over Switzerland's Team Silvana Tirinzoni in the gold-medal game at Uijeongbu Arena also marked the third world championship of the 34 year-old's career.
Impressively, the Homan rink also became the first Canadian team to repeat as world champions since Sandra Schmirler's team in 1993 and 1994.
A direct berth to the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympic Winter Games was also secured for Canada's women's curling team, having earned the maximum 30
Olympic Qualification Points.
Hailing from Toronto, Ont., Wilkes was the fourth women's curler to enter the Golden Hawks Hall of Fame in 2018 as a member of the 2008-09, 2010-11, and 2011-12 CIS (U SPORTS) championship-winning squads. She was a three-time CIS All-Canadian and twice represented Laurier internationally.
As a dual-sport student-athlete with the Golden Hawks, she also played on Laurier's women's softball team, winning a silver medal in 2008 before helping secure the program's only national title the following year.
