This Golden Hawks National Rankings Update is presented by Westpoint Sports
RICHMOND HILL, Ont. - The Golden Hawks are moving on up.
After a relatively quiet week for the purple and gold, the team jumped one spot to rank seventh in the country. The Golden Hawks beat the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks 2-1 last Thursday to improve to 8-2-1-1, and are riding a three-game winning streak.
There was plenty of movement this week from conference teams. Guelph, previously third, fell to fifth, Queen's jumped from sixth to third, previously unranked Waterloo sit at number 10, and Toronto fell out of the rankings completely.
U SPORTS uses the Elo rating system to calculate its weekly national rankings. Elo calculates team rankings on a game-by-game basis, using an algorithm that generates a statistical calculation based on certain customized variables adapted across the range of U SPORTS team sports.
