WATERLOO, Ont. - Ontario University Athletics (OUA) announced Wednesday its 2024 men's soccer regular season schedule. 

The Golden Hawks will kick off its season on Labour Day weekend when the purple and gold hit the road to face the Brock Badgers in St. Catherines on Friday, August 30 at 8:15 pm. The last time the two teams squared off to start the season was in 2017.

They will face a stiff test in just their second match of the season when they travel to the GTA to try and tame last year's OUA finalists, the York Lions. 

Laurier will host the Algoma Thunderbirds for its home opener for the first time since 2015 at Alumni Field on Sunday, September 8 at 3:15 pm.

Of note, the team will play four of their six home games between September 8 and 27. 

The Battle of Waterloo derby is set for September 13 and 15, beginning on home turf under the lights. 

It's been a one-sided rivalry in favour of the Warriors lately, as WLU hasn't defeated Waterloo since 2016. They are 0-7-4 against their rivals in that span and conceded a clean sheet in four of the past five head-to-head matches.

Last season, Laurier made its first OUA playoff appearance since 2016, losing 1-0 in extra time to McMaster in the first round. The rematch of that heartbreaking defeat is set for September 20 at Alumni Field.

Senior Night will take place on October 9 against Windsor and, for the second year in a row, they will conclude the regular season in the Rose City; on Thanksgiving weekend, Saturday, October 12.

As always, every Golden Hawks home game is non-ticketed and admission is free.
