Geier, Eguavoen named Athletes of the Week

Rugby's Alisha Geier and football's Ente Eguavoen are the Laurier Bookstore Athletes of the Week for the week ending October 24, 2021.

Geier (Burlington, Ont.) scored a try in the regular season finale for the Golden Hawks against Trent on Saturday night. It was also her final career game for Laurier.

In her fifth year as a back row, the team's captain ended the season as the leader in yards and rucks.

This is the first time that Keats has been named Laurier’s female Athlete of the Week.

Ente Eguavoen (Mississauga, Ont.) also had a Senior's Day to remember.

In what could have been his final home game playing for the Golden Hawks, the fifth-year receiver recorded 10 catches (including two touchdwons) and a career best 222 yards receiving against Windsor.

While also matching a carer long with a 54-yard reception, Eguavoen also passed Stefan Ptaszek for the second-most receiving yards in a game in Laurier football history.

This is the second time that Eguavoen has been named Laurier's male Athlete of the Week.
