WATERLOO, Ont. - Golden Hawks receiver Jesulayomi Ojutalayo has been selected to participate in the 2026 College Gridiron Showcase (CGS) in Fort Worth, Texas, from January 9-11.
"We are very excited for Layomi to get this opportunity. He has been a dominant force in the OUA both on offence and special teams. He will test well and turn heads in front of the scouts in attendance," said offensive coordinator, student-athlete development, and receivers coach Todd Galloway.
The fifth-year economics major from Shelburne, Ont., was named Laurier's special teams captain as a rush/cover while performing his offensive duties as a speedy, shifty, and skilled receiver.
Ojutalayo was part of the 2024 Yates Cup and Uteck Bowl championship team and earned his first career OUA All-Star selection in 2025.
He played 31 games for the purple and gold, totalling 723 receiving yards, 29 rushing yards, and seven touchdowns. On special teams, he had 19 solo tackles, 11 of them being this previous season, and five assists.
As per the CGS, since the inaugural event in 2015, north of 900 participants have been given professional opportunities, with the NFL, CFL, and other professional leagues making up the 150 scouts on hand to assess and meet with the players.
Previous Golden Hawks that have attended the showcase include Godfrey Onyeka (2018), Patrick Burke Jr. (2022), Taylor Elgersma (2025), and Ethan Jordan (2025).
It will be a busy three-day showcase for Ojutalayo with individual and team drills, scrimmages, one-on-ones, and opportunities for personal meetings with scouts and executives.
The schedule also includes a professional football education segment featuring mentoring, life-coaching, financial education, professional athlete life, and on-and off-field expectations.
