OSHAWA, Ont. -
Mathieu Mori (Mississauga, Ont.) and
Ben Clifford (Milton, Ont.) each scored two goals as Wilfrid Laurier's men's soccer team (5-2-2) defeated the host UOIT Ridgebacks (1-6-2) 6-1 at Vaso's Field.
Neither squad was able to capitalize on their chances on the first half as the match was tied 0-0 at the break. Laurier's
Mathieu Mori got the Hawks onto the scoreboard at the 48 minute mark and then notched his second of the contest 13 minutes later.
Four minutes after that
Ben Clifford made it 3-0 and followed that up six minutes later with another marker. The scoring was rounded out by
Sandro Stojakovic (Waterloo, Ont.) and
Eric Stainton (Markham, Ont.) who both scored one goal a-piece.
For the Ridgebacks Daniel Henao (Ajax, Ont.) scored the lone goal at the 66 minute mark.
Laurier out shot the home team 28-7 while dominating the play for most of the match. UOIT netminder Oliver Lietz made 12 saves while the goal tending tandem of
Martyn Hooker and
Jarrett Humphreys turned aside three.
The Hawks are next in action on Sunday, October 2nd when they travel to Windsor to take on the Lancers at 3:15 p.m.
