WATERLOO, Ont. – After helping the #9 Laurier Golden Hawks secure a 36-13 Homecoming victory over the York Lions on Saturday, Keyon Robinson (offence), Javein Smith (defence) and Darion Bacik-Hadden have been recognized as Laurier Football Players of the Week, presented by Nothers, The Award Store.

OFFENCE

Keyon Robinson - Receiver
Robinson delivered one of the game's biggest plays, hauling in a 37-yard touchdown reception early in the fourth quarter that helped Laurier pull away for good.

The psychology major from Guelph, Ont., finished with three catches for 51 yards and a touchdown, averaging 17.0 yards per reception.

His scoring grab capped an 82-yard drive and extended the Golden Hawks' lead to 25-13 at the time.

DEFENCE

Javein Smith - Defensive back
Smith was a force among Laurier's defensive unit as the Golden Hawks limited York to just 195 yards of total offence and 63 passing yards.

The philosophy major from Mississauga, Ont., recorded five total tackles, including a tackle for loss, and came up with one of the game's defining momentum swings late in the third quarter when he recovered a York fumble after a forced turnover by teammate Best Egbamuno.

The recovery halted a promising Lions drive and helped preserve Laurier's lead heading into the fourth quarter. Smith also added several key stops against York's rushing attack, including a tackle for loss on the Lions' opening drive of the game.

SPECIAL TEAMS

Darion Bacik-Hadden - Running back
Bacik-Hadden's effort helped a Laurier special teams unit that generated strong field position all afternoon, highlighted by 139 punt return yards and several momentum-changing returns.

The fifth-year psychology major from Chatham, Ont. was the unit's best blocker on the day, allowing Tayshaun Jackson to surpass 100 punt return yards for the fourth time this season.
