BURLINGTON, Ont. - Four student-athletes from the Golden Hawks women's hockey program have been recognized for their standout seasons with OUA West all-star and all-rookie team selections.
A season after being named the OUA's rookie of the year,
Clara Chisholm was named a conference first team all-star.Â
Laurier's points (24) and assists (16) leader was a key offensive contributor for the Golden Hawks in her second season. Those totals also ranked her in the top 10 across all skaters in the OUA.
The second-year psychology major from Granton, Ont. also netted eight goals, which ranked second on the team.
Joining her on the first all-star team is second-year netminder Sara Howell. The kinesiology and physical education major from Greely, Ont. led the OUA in both goals-against average (0.93) and save percentage (.955) while recording the sixth-most wins in the conference with an 11-3 record.
Her six shutouts were also the second-most in the OUA this season.Â
Veteran defender
Kara den Hoed, who tallied 17 points (3-14-17) in 25 games was named to the conference's second all-star team.
A former OUA Defender of the Year and U SPORTS silver medalist, the grad studies transfer from the Nipissing Lakers quickly became an important presence on Laurier's blue line, logging key minutes and contributing to both special teams units.
Her points total ranked her fifth among all OUA defenders while her assists tally was tied for third.Â
Rounding out the honours is defender first-year defender
Marra Klassen, who was named to the OUA West all-rookie team.
The financial math major from Manotick, Ont. made an immediate impact in her first season, recording nine points (2-7–9) in all 26 regular games while contributing on special teams and often being called upon in shootouts.
Her points total was second in the OUA among rookie defenders and she had the fifth-most among the same group.
