Elgersma invited to 2026 NFL Combine

WATERLOO, Ont. - Former Golden Hawks quarterback Taylor Elgersma is heading to Indianapolis, Indiana, for the 2026 NFL Combine.

The two-time OUA MVP and Hec Crighton winner becomes only the second U SPORTS quarterback invited to the NFL Combine taking place at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis from February 23 until March 2.

The first was Larry Jusdanis of Acadia University in 1995.

"I feel very blessed to get another opportunity to be evaluated and showcase my skills and abilities," said Elgersma.

According to 3 Down Nation, he will be going along with former Florida Gators quarterback Kyle Trask to help throw to the other positions during the combine process. Trask was selected in the second round, 64th overall during the 2021 NFL Draft.

It has been a journey for the 23 year-old pivot from London, Ont.. He was selected 18th overall by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the 2025 CFL Draft, but went unselected in the NFL Draft.

The Green Bay Packers would go on to sign the London, Ont., native and later release him following training camp in August.

Since then, Elgersma has worked out for the New York Giants, San Francisco 49ers, Chicago Bears, and Miami Dolphins. In January, he was drafted by the Birmingham Stallions of the United Football League.

"Taylor being invited to the NFL Combine is rare as a free agent. It's a testament to his continued commitment and willingness to keep betting on himself. I know given the chance he will show very well and impress those in attendance," manager of football operations and head coach Todd Galloway said.
