Golden Hawks draw 1–1 with Brock in road battle

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Golden Hawks women's soccer team earned a 1–1 draw against the Brock Badgers on Friday evening in a match that featured momentum swings on both sides.

Laurier found an early breakthrough in the seventh minute when Kyra Walker capitalized on an opportunity to put the Hawks ahead 1–0.

Laurier continued to press through the opening half, highlighted by Ashley Greco's decisive strike in the 40th minute that rattled off the crossbar.

The Golden Hawks also generated looks through Taya Johnson, whose header in the 37th minute forced a save from Brock's goalkeeper.

Brock, meanwhile, relied heavily on set pieces to create chances, earning multiple corners throughout the half.

Despite their pressure, Laurier's backline stayed composed, and goalkeeper Mya Brodrecht entered at the half to help maintain the advantage.

The Badgers intensified their push after the break. Brodrecht was tested early with a save in the 48th minute, but Brock finally broke through in the 69th when substitute Rachel Kane found the equalizer to make it 1–1.

Less than five minutes later, the Badgers nearly pulled ahead as Jenna Parris struck the crossbar, keeping Laurier under pressure.

The Hawks responded with late attacking opportunities of their own. In the 87th minute, substitute Stephanie Geady rose for a header that sailed just high, and in the closing seconds, Tamara Lisser forced a team save to preserve the draw.

Both sides traded chances throughout a spirited contest, with Laurier's defensive resilience and Brock's second-half surge ensuring the points were shared.
