This Golden Hawks National Rankings Update is presented by Westpoint SportsÂ
RICHMOND HILL, Ont. - For the fourth straight week, the Golden Hawks hold the number one spot. Â
The Ottawa Gee-Gees gave the Golden Hawks a tough test last Saturday, but the Golden Hawks weathered the storm on a clutch goal line stand to win 30-24. Â
There was some movement from conference schools in the latest standings. Western, previously in the third spot moved up to second, and Queen's, previously number nine, jumped up to the eighth seed. Ottawa remained at number ten. Â
The Golden Hawks and Western Mustangs remain the only two undefeated teams in U SPORTS.Â
U SPORTS uses the Elo rating system to calculate its weekly national rankings. Elo calculates team rankings on a game-by-game basis, using an algorithm that generates a statistical calculation based on certain customized variables adapted across the range of U SPORTS team sports. Â
The Top 10 in football is generated by a combination of Elo rankings and a media poll, each component worth 50 percent of the final total.Â
