WATERLOO, Ont. - The #1-ranked Golden Hawks are 4-0 at the midway point of the season after a 41-19 Battle of Waterloo victory against the Waterloo Warriors.
Here are the Laurier football Players of the Week, presented by Laurier OneCard, for the team's win:
OFFENSE
Cal Wither – Quarterback
Wither put on a monster performance in his first Battle of Waterloo. He threw for 299-yards, four touchdowns, had a 76% completion rate, and ran for 18-yards. Wither has thrown for 200 plus yards in all four games thus far.
The Waterloo native ranks first in completion rate (70.4%), first in touchdowns (11), first in pass efficiency (179.5), and fifth in total pass yards (1,042) in the OUA.
This was Wither's first Player of the Week nomination.
DEFENSE
Ethan Gregorcic – Linebacker
Gregorcic was locked in defensively against Waterloo. He ended the game with a team high six tackles that included five solo and two assisted. It was also a season high for the third-year linebacker.
He made a huge tackle in the second quarter that forced the Warrior player to lose the ball and get penalized for intentional grounding.
This was Gregorcic's first Player of the Week nod, and fourth of his career.
SPECIAL TEAMS
Jesulayomi Ojutalayo – Wide Receiver
On special teams, Ojutalayo helped the Golden Hawks limit Waterloo to 42 punt return yards on three attempts and 118 kick return yards on seven tries.
He had two special teams tackles, both of which were solo, and 11 receiving yards.
This was Ojutalayo's second Player of the Week feature this season.
