RICHMOND HILL, Ont. - The Golden Hawks stand alone at the top. Â
After Laurier's 41-19 win over the Warriors in the Battle of Waterloo, the Golden Hawks take sole possession of the number one spot for the first time this season. Â
The Golden Hawks had previously been tied with the Laval Rouge et Or who now drop down to fourth after their loss to Montreal, while Montreal moves up to second. Â
Western still holds down the third spot, likewise the Queen's Gaels stay at number nine, and Ottawa overtakes Guelph for the tenth spot. Ottawa is now ranked for the first time this year. Â
U SPORTS uses the Elo rating system to calculate its weekly national rankings. Elo calculates team rankings on a game-by-game basis, using an algorithm that generates a statistical calculation based on certain customized variables adapted across the range of U SPORTS team sports. Â
The Top 10 in football is generated by a combination of Elo rankings and a media poll, each component worth 50 percent of the final total.Â
