Laurier men’s soccer announce 2025 regular season schedule

WATERLOO, Ont. -- Coming off their best year since 2016, the Golden Hawks men's soccer team is looking to build upon their seven-win campaign as the OUA released the 2025 regular season schedule.

For the second straight year, the Golden Hawks begin the season on the road, heading eastbound on the 401 to visit the York Lions on August 28.

On August 31 at 6pm, those same Lions come to town for Laurier's home opener.

This two-game set will be a challenge for the Golden Hawks seeing as the Lions took top spot in the West division and are back-to-back OUA finalists.

The purple and gold hit the road again for another home-and-home series against the Brock Badgers starting on September 5 in St. Catherines then at Alumni Field on September 7 at 3:15pm. The Golden Hawks have gotten the better of the Badgers, going 4-1 in the last five matches.

The Golden Hawks then begin a two game road trip. Their first stop is just down University Avenue to take on the Waterloo Warriors in the only Battle of Waterloo in 2025 on September 12.

The Warriors previously had the upper hand, but the Golden Hawks were able to snap a five game losing skid with two wins last season.

Their second stop will be in Windsor to face the Lancers on September 14. Laurier won both matches last season after tying the previous two.

Next up, the Golden Hawks host the Western Mustangs on September 21 at 3:15pm. The Mustangs have had Laurier's number as of late, beating the Hawks in six straight games.

Laurier hits the road again for another two-game series against the McMaster Marauders on September 26, then host the second leg on September 28 at 3:15pm. The Golden Hawks will be in tough once again as the Hamilton squad have handed them five consecutive losses, four of those shutout losses.

The Golden Hawks continue their homestand with back-to-back games against the Algoma Thunderbirds on October 4 and 5, both at 3:15pm. The October 5 matchup will feature a celebration for the graduating class for Senior Day.

Since Algoma started their soccer program in 2014, the Golden Hawks hold a 13-0-3 record all time with one of those draws happening last season.

The team then closes out the regular season with an all-important visit to the Royal City to face the Guelph Gryphons.

This will be a highly anticipated rematch of last year's round one playoff game when extra time solved nothing and had to be dueled out on the penalty spot where the Golden Hawks playoff run came to an end losing 6-5 on penalties.

As always, every Golden Hawks home game is non-ticketed and admission is free.
