During the preliminary session, both
Kent Goni Avila and
Owen Jibb advanced to finals. Goni Avila finished eighth in the 100m breaststroke putting him in the 'A' final, while
Owen Jibb finished 18th in the 400m IM, qualifying him for the 'C' final.
Goni Avila was the first Hawk in the water for Laurier in the evening finals, racing to a seventh place finish in a time of 1:00.64 - a new personal best and team record time.
"I'm really happy to finally beat my time from the Laurier Varsity Invitational. I've been chasing it for a while," said Goni Avila after the race.
After a short break, Jibb dove into the water for his 'C' final. The race was back-and-forth between the competition, but Jibb stuck to his race plan and touched the wall second, maintaining his 18th place position.
The Hawks ended the day in 13th place overall with 25 teams currently being ranked.
