WINDSOR, Ont. - To say that this year's OUA track & field championships were a success for the Golden Hawks would be an understatement.
Laurier travelled to the Dennis Fairall Fieldhouse in Windsor, where it continued to rewrite its record book, with the majority of 13 new program benchmarks set over the two-day competition on Friday and Saturday.
With five new program relay records set this year, four of those came at provincials.
Anisah Sabree was part of all three relays, almost unheard of at the OUA's. Chad Thorpe, Nolan Kuhlberg, Chloe Poulter, and Abby Byers ran in two each.
In the 60m race, Laurier had three competitors make it to the semifinals. Etua Kaddu finished 11th and Declan Di Frangia finished 13th overall.Â
On the women's side, Byers ran a great series of races, coming 13th in the 60m event and was our top finisher in the 300m, running a personal best of 41.94 and finishing in 12th overall.
Finn Moore had a strong race in the 300m, breaking the Laurier program record in 36.93 seconds.
The 600m was one of the team's strongest team events. Alyssa Zinn ran to a 12th-place finish in a time of 1:37.57. On the men's side, Nolan Kuhlberg ran to a 13th-place finish in a time of 1:22.34
Markeiths Flannigan capped off a very successful season with a seventh-place finish in the triple jump, with a distance of 13.44 metres.
