WATERLOO, Ont. - Golden Hawks Kara den Hoed and Dante Del Cul are the Laurier Athletes of the Week, presented by The Hawk Shop. 

den Hoed, a Master's of Arts in criminology student from Fergus, Ont., capped off her Laurier career this past weekend in the women's hockey OUA semifinals.  

The defender played in 25 regular season games for the Golden Hawks and all five playoff games. She took her team the distance against Ottawa, averaging 29:26 time on ice in the three-game set, recording two assists and 19 shots.  

Del Cul, a first-year health sciences major from St. Jacobs, Ont., was the lone Golden Hawk at the U SPORTS track and field championships.  

He was the first Laurier athlete to compete at the national championships since the 2019-20 season. Del Cul claimed the program's first gold - para - medal at the event, racing in the T37 men's 60m, crossing the line in 8.24.  

This is the first Laurier Athlete of the Week award for both den Hoed and Del Cul.
