In the final weekend of preparation before the OUA Track & Field Championships, Laurier's indoor track team competed at three different meets:
Hal Brown Last Chance:
Piper Lafayette ran to a personal best in the 1,000 metres along with
Belinda Guerra in the 3,000m. Â
Justice Sewitt ran to a new personal best in the 300m, while the team's 60m sprinters had some great races. Â
Guelph Gryphons Last Chance:
A small contingent went to the meet in a snow storm and
Markeiths Flannigan was great in the long jump, soaring to an OUA standard-beating distance of 6.58m to have the top team distance for the season so far.
Final Results
Ravens Last Chance Meet:
A small but mighty group of runners travelled to Ottawa for this last chance meet. Â
The highlights included the women's 4 x 400m team racing to a massive program record, going 3:57.29. The team was made up of
Abby Byers,
Chloe Poulter,
Anisah Sabree, and
Alyssa Zinn. Â
The men's side ran the same race very ran very well, coming in at 3:25.84 for another program record. The team was made up of
Chad Thorpe,
Finn Moore,
Braydon Trowbridge, and
Nolan Kuhlberg.
Of special note,
Abby Byers made the finals in the 60m and raced to a great time of 7.87 in the final.
Final Results
With the invitational season now at an end, the provincial championships are up next for Laurier, which are being hosted by the Windsor Lancers at the Dennis Fairall Fieldhouse from Friday, February 21 through Saturday, February 22.
