GUELPH, Ont. - The Golden Hawks wrapped up a successful weekend of racing at the Dean Boles Divisional Championship. The men's side won the title while the women's team finished third, and in combined scoring, the Golden Hawks finished second overall.
The men's team win marks the first time since the 2017 OUA championship that the Golden Hawk were able to beat the Waterloo Warriors, when the Golden Hawk women finished seventh and the Warriors finished ninth.
The meet was also marked with several outstanding performances including an S10 Para World Record, two S10 Canadian Para Records, two U SPORTS qualifications, and three team records.
DAY ONE:
The first event of the night was the women's 4x50m freestyle relay. The 'A' relay finished second in the second-fastest time on Laurier record and a new 50m freestyle team record thanks to Olivia Francis' speedy leadoff. The women's 'B' relay finished ninth overall. On the men's side, the 'A' relay finished third in the fifth-fastest time on record while the 'B' relay finished sixth.
In the first individual event of the night, Eadaoin McGrath finished fourth, Isabella Ste. Marie tenth, Kaite Marton eleventh and Aleesha Tejani thirteenth overall all earning points for the Hawks.
On the men's side, George Radic and Owen Jibb soared ahead of all the competition, touching the wall in first and second respectively. Radic not only won the event but also broke Jibb's team record time and qualified for U SPORTS. Sawyer Kay finished eighth, Caleb Johnston ninth, and Dylan Murray sixteenth for the Hawks.
Katie Cosgriffe kept the podium success going in the 50m backstroke with a third-place finish and new S10 Para World Record with a flock of Hawks around her as Emma Young finished fifth, Simrit Grewal sixth, Morgan Pequin tenth, and Danica Penner thirteenth.
For the men, Tyler Greenwood and William Bryer finished second and third overall, while Greg Hayward was fourth, and Carson Pyzer finished eighth.
Olivia Francis set her second team record of the meet in the 200m freestyle with a fourth-place finish. Addison Card finished seventh, Hannah Thompson eleventh, Katarina Brezovan fourteenth and Olivia Williams fifteenth.
Jacob Wahba led the men with a second-place finish while Radic finished close behind in third. Griffin Oldman and Callum MacGregor touched the wall in fifth and sixth. Angus Charland tenth, Alec Elliot thirteenth, and Liam Telky fourteenth.
McGrath finished fifth in the 100m butterfly follow closely by Cosgriffe in sixth who swam to a new Canadian S10 Para Record. Alex Lett finished eighth, Marton thirteenth, Megan Smith fourteenth and Tejani sixteenth.
Andy Jiang led the men with a fourth-place finish and a huge personal best making him the second fastest Laurier swimmer on record. Daniel Romagnoli finished eleventh and Caleb Johnston fifteenth.
In the 100m breaststroke Olivia Frost soared to a third-place finish and the third fastest time on record. John Ryan won the event on the men's side while Dylan Murray finished ninth.
In the 200m backstroke Ste. Marie finished sixth and Lett finished fourteenth. On the men's side, Bryer won the event while Pyzer finished sixth.
Francis was back on the podium in the 50m freestyle with a second-place finish, while Pequin finished seventh. Hayward led the men with a third-place finish and the third fastest time on record for Laurier. Oldman finished seventh, Greenwood eleventh, MacGregor twelfth, Ryan fifteenth.
Thompson finished fourth in the 800m freestyle going the second fastest time in Laurier history, Card was right behind her in fifth while Frost finished tenth, Williams eleventh, Brezovan twelfth, and Smith thirteenth.
Jibb soared to first place in the 1500m freestyle, winning the event by 18 seconds, while Kay finished fourth and Telky seventh.

DAY TWO:
The first event was the 4x50m medley relay, the women's 'A' relay finished third in the fastest time 2018 and sixth-fastest on Laurier record, while the 'B' relay finished fifth. The men's 'A' relay also finished third in the second-fastest time on Laurier record.
In the 200m IM, McGrath led the Hawks with a fifth-place finish. Cosgriffe finished sixth in a new S10 Canadian Para Record in the event, followed by Marton in fourteenth and Ste. Marie in fifteenth.
The Golden Hawks dominated the podium on the men's side with Jibb winning the event and qualified for the U SPORTS championships, Bryer in second and Radic in third. Jiang was close behind in fifth and Johnston tenth.
Francis finished second in the 100m freestyle with Card in ninth, Pequin eleventh, and Brezovan sixteenth. MacGregor finished third on the men's side with Oldman fourth, Greenwood fifth, Hayward ninth, and Romagnoli twelfth.
In the 200m butterfly Smith finished sixth, Lett eighth, Marton ninth, Tejani tenth and Williams eleventh. On the men's side Kay finished seventh, Elliot eighth, Wahba ninth and Telky twelfth.
Frost won the 200m breaststroke on the women's side in the fourth-fastest time on Laurier record. On the men's side, Jibb and Ryan went one-two in the event while Murray finished sixth.
Grewal finished third in the 100m backstroke followed closely by Cosgriffe in fourth, Young fifth, Ste. Marie eighth and Penner fifteenth. Bryer and Greenwood finished second and third for the men with Jiang in seventh and Pyzer eleventh.
In the 50m butterfly Francis finished fourth overall, McGrath eighth and Lett ninth. On the men's side, Jiang finished eleventh, Benjamin Flint twelfth, and Romagnoli fifteenth.
The 50m breaststroke saw Frost finish fifth, and Tara Tavoularis thirteenth overall on the women's side, while Ryan won the event on the men's side with Murray in eighth.
Card reached the podium in the 400m freestyle with a strong third place finish followed closely by Thompson in fourth with Brezovan ninth, Williams eleventh, and Smith fifteenth. On the men's side Radic won the event with Wahba close behind in third, Elliot sixth, Telky seventh and Kay ninth.
The last event was the 4x100m freestyle relay, the women's 'A' relay finished second overall and the third-fastest time on Laurier record, while the 'B' relay finished fifth. The men's 'A' relay also finished second overall, only 0.01 second off the team record.
The 'B' relay finished fourth ending the meet strong.
