WATERLOO, Ont. - The #1-ranked Golden Hawks saw their season come to an end in the 117th Yates Cup. The team could not complete the comeback, falling 30-27 to the #6 Queen's Gaels.
Here are the Laurier football Players of the Week, presented by Nothers The Award Store:
OFFENSE
Quentin Scott – Running Back
Scott had a game high 88 rushing yards and one touchdown that was Laurier's first major of the game.
The fourth-year sociology major from Brampton, Ont., played seven games for the Golden Hawks this season and ended the year with 477 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
This was Scott's fifth career Player of the Week selection.
DEFENSE
Marcus Tenney – Defensive Line
Tenney had four tackles in the game, split between three solo and two assists, and had 1.5 tackles for a loss of three yards. His four tackles were a season high.
The fifth-year arts major from Minesing, Ont., earned his first career OUA All-Star award this season, and ended the year with 18 total tackles, six for loss, and three sacks.
This was Tenney's second career Player of the Week award.
SPECIAL TEAMS
Tayshaun Jackson – Running Back
Jackson had a total of 119 return yards, split between 76 on the punt return unit and 43 on the kick return. On the offensive end, he had 31 rushing yards and had 150 all-purpose yards.
The third-year geography major from Windsor, Ont., was named a first-team OUA All-Star as a returner and second-team All-Star as a running back. He ended the season with 786 rushing yards, six rushing touchdowns, 175 receiving yards, and 643 return yards.
This was Jackson's seventh career Player of the Week award.
SCOUT TEAM
The Laurier football scout team Players of the Week are Gabe Hamilton (WR) on offense, Gideon Aliku (DL) on defense, and Gabe Williams (WR) on special teams.
