WATERLOO, Ont. - Laurier women's fly half
Abbey Tape and centre
Kaia Grant have both been named 2025 OUA all-stars.
Tape, from Chatham, Ont., was named to the first team. The last time a Laurier women's rugby player received that distinction was Leah McBain in 2019.
The second-year kinesiology and physical education major showed a lot of versatility this season, moving from scrum half, to inside centre, and finally securing a spot at fly half.
"Abbey reads the feel well, is a great ball distributor, and has a strong kick," described Laurier women's rugby head coach Eric Ciezar. "She is a strong tackler and exhibits great field awareness."
Grant, a fourth-year criminology major from Brantford, Ont. was named to the second team after scoring four tries early in the season before suffering an injury.
"Kaia is a tenacious tackler and runs hard offensively looking for space to attack," Ciezar described.Â
"We're very proud of both Abbey and Kaia."
