Laurier swimmer Katie Cosgriffe wins Paralympic Games games medal with bronze finish for Canada

PARIS, France - Incoming Golden Hawk swimmer and Laurier business administration major Katie Cosgriffe secured her first ever piece of hardware at the Paralympic Games.

The 18 year-old from Oakville, Ont. won bronze in the S10 100m butterfly on Tuesday at Paris La Défense Arena., becoming the first Golden Hawk swimmer to win a Paralympic medal since Laurier alum Adam Purdy won double-gold in the 100m backstroke and 4x100m medley relay at the 2000 Sydney Paralympic Games.

Cosgrove has the chance to add more medals to her already successful games as she is entered to compete in the 100m backstroke and 200m individual medley on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
