WATERLOO, Ont. – The Golden Hawks hosted Brock University and York University in a double dual meet, which saw the Hawks soar to victory over York University while falling short against Brock.
The night was highlighted by many strong performances. The women got the night started with the 4x100m freestyle relay which saw the Hawks finish third and fourth.
Shortly after, it was the men's turn to race the 4x100m freestyle relay where they finished second and fifth overall.
The first individual event of the night was the women's 50m breaststroke, which saw Abby Marshall and Maxeen Mullen finish on the podium in second and third place.
In the men's 50m breaststroke, Owen Jibb narrowly missed the podium with a fourth-place finish.
The Hawks got back on the podium thanks to Olivia Francis's second-place finish in the 50m butterfly, while on the men's side, both Daniel Romagnoli and Kelton Langman just missed the podium, finishing fourth and fifth overall.
The Golden Hawk men were back in the pool after a short break for one of the hardest races in swimming the 400 individual medley. Jibb and Dylan Murray braved the painful event, finishing third and fourth overall.
Tara Tavoularis got the Golden girls back on the podium with her second-place finish in the 200m backstroke, shortly after Connor Cartier just missed the men's 200m backstroke podium with a fourth-place finish.
Next up, Mullen was back on the podium finishing second overall in the 100m breaststroke. Shortly after Kent Goni got the Purple and Gold on top of the podium for the first time of the night, winning the 100m breaststroke.
In the women's 50m freestyle, Francis got back on the podium with another strong second-place finish. Shortly after Tyler Greenwood finished fourth in the same event.
After another break, Langman found the podium in the 200m butterfly finishing second overall right on the heels of a Badger. After that was the women's 100m freestyle which saw Morgan Pequin and Marshall finish fourth and fifth, respectively.
Then Romagnoli and Dylan Thomas made the podium Golden again with Romagnoli winning the 100m freestyle and Thomas finishing third overall.
The men kept their Golden streak alive thanks to a first-place finish in the 50m backstroke by Goni with Greenwood just missing the podium with another fourth-place finish.
It was time for the women to get another podium finish as Katarina Brezovan finished third in the 800m freestyle. Shortly after the Golden Hawks went one-two in the 800m freestyle thanks to Jibb and Jacob Wahba.
Next up was an event that swimmers rarely get to compete in, the 4x50m mixed medley relay. The co-ed Hawk teams finished second, fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
The first individual event after the relay was the women's 200m individual medley which saw Mullen finish second overall, while Langman finished third overall on the men's side.
Shortly after was the 100m backstroke, which saw Alyse Borges finish second for the women and William Bryer second for the men.
Next up, the women made the podium of the 400m freestyle Golden with a first and third place finish by Francis and Tavoularis.
Marshall was back on the podium in the 200m breaststroke for the women and, on the men's side, Goni topped the podium, making it his third win of the night.
The Hawks stayed on the podium in the 100m butterfly as Romagnoli and Jibb finished second and third overall.
In the last individual events of the night, Megan Smith finished fourth in the 200m freestyle on the women's side, while Wahba and Bryer made the podium shine with another one-two finish in the 200m freestyle.
The final event of the night was the women's and men's 4x100m medley relay, which saw the Golden Hawk women finish second and fifth overall.
The Golden Hawk men finished first and second overall, putting on an exciting back-and-forth race and bringing a successful night of racing to a close.
