Laurier Golden Hawks Hall of Fame to welcome 2022 inductees

WATERLOO, Ont. - Six standout student-athletes, a dedicated builder, and a championship team will be enshrined in the Laurier Golden Hawks Hall of Fame class of 2022, presented by Westpoint Sport.

Five different sports are represented in this year's induction class, including women's and men's soccer, women's curling, women's rugby, and football. 

All inductees will be honoured in a ceremony on Friday, January 6 in the Hawk Lounge at Laurier's Athletic Complex. 

The 2022 honorees to the Laurier Golden Hawks Hall of Fame are:

Niklas Bauer (Newmarket, Ont.) - A men's soccer team rookie of the year and MVP, OUA first-team All-Star and CIS second-team All-Canadian

Katie Bishop (Surrey, BC) - A Rich Newbrough Award winner as Laurier's Rookie of the Year in 2012/13, a three-time OUA women's soccer first-team All-Star, two-time OUA second-team All-Star, a CIS Academic All-Canadian and an OUA Champion.

Jennifer Gilmour (Waterloo, Ont.) - A three-time OUA women's rugby first-team All-Star and two-time team MVP.

Cheryl Kreviazuk (Ottawa, Ont.) - A women's curling team rookie of the year, an OUA All-Star and CIS All-Canadian as well as a three-time OUA and two-time CIS champion.

Nicole Lyon (Kitchener, Ont.) - An OUA women's soccer champion, OUA West Division MVP, a first-team OUA All-Star and CIS All-Canadian, a team MVP, and winner of Laurier's Presidents Award as the top female athlete.

Ronnie Pfeffer (Kitchener, Ont.) - A two-time OUA all-star and a second-team U SPORTS All-Canadian.

Mary D'Alton (Kitchener, Ont.) - The original Chair and founder of the Outstanding Women of Laurier, Past Vice Chair of the Laurier Board of Governors, and a long-time supporter of Laurier Athletics & Recreation.

2010 OUA Women's Soccer Champions - Coached by Barry MacLean, the team won the program's sixth provincial title, secured a CIS silver medal, and finished with an overall record of 18-2-2. 

The Laurier Golden Hawks Hall of Fame was created in 1986 and, over the past 36 years, has grown to more than 200 inductees - including former Laurier varsity student-athletes, coaches, builders of sport, and 27 teams.

Kate McCrae Bristol, Acting Director of Athletics and Recreation at Laurier, commented how the department is "so proud and honoured to welcome each of this year's inductees into the Golden Hawks Hall of Fame." 

"Their amazing careers and tremendous contributions to Laurier and Laurier Athletics & Recreation are an inspiration to all current and future Golden Hawk student-athletes."
