WATERLOO, Ont. (July 22, 2011) - Two Wilfrid Laurier University football players, one current and one former, were among 23 First Team All-Tournament selections as announced this week by the International Federation of American Football (IFAF) following this month's world championship.

Receiver Shamawd Chambers of Markham, Ont., and linebacker Anthony Maggiacomo of Cambridge, Ont., were two of the seven Canadians named to the first team following their silver medal showing in the country's first-ever appearance at the IFAF Senior World Championships. The USA, who defeated Canada in the championship game, led all countries with 11 first team selections.

Chambers was a threat throughout the tournament for Canada as he finished with 20 receptions for 248 yards and two touchdowns in four games. Maggiacomo was a force for Canada in the middle in helping to shutdown the opponents running game. He finished the tournament with five solo and six assisted tackles for a total of eight tackles.

Other Canadians named to the first team include offensive lineman Matt Norman and Zachary Pollari, running back Matt Walter, defensive lineman Adriano Belli and defensive back Sammy Okpro.

Two Canadians were also named to the second team, including quarterback Michael Faulds and defensive back Troy Adams.
