TORONTO, Ont. - Wilfrid Laurier's Adam
Bestard and
Peter Quinney were taken by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in
the fourth and fifth rounds respectively of the 2009 CFL Draft.
Adam Bestard, a 6-5 product out of
Sarnia, played in all ten of Laurier's games this season. As an
offensive lineman, he picked up two and a half tackles while helping to maintain a strong offence. The history
major was taken 27
th overall.
Peter Quinney, a
6-1 fullback from Belleville, started in nine of the Golden Hawks ten
games this year. In his four year career at Laurier, he compiled 201
yards rushing and 506 yards receiving. The kinesiology major was
taken 35
th overall.
The pair will join former Hawks
Ian Logan and Anthony Maggiacomo on the Blue Bombers.
The 2008 Golden Hawks football team
finished the regular season with a 6-2 record and went 1-1 in the
post-season, defeating the McMaster 29-0 before losing in the OUA
semifinal to the Western Mustangs.
