Kuriata joined the Laurier football staff in 2021 as a defensive assistant coach while studying economics and financial management at the Lazaridis School of Business and Economics, from which he graduated in 2023.Â
After spending the season learning under Golden Hawks associate head coach, defensive coordinator and defensive line coach Ron VanMoerkerke, he became the assistant linebackers coach for 2022.Â
Kuriata grew up in Niagara Falls and was awarded the inaugural Bob Erwin Leadership Award in 2022 from his high school, A.N. Myer Secondary School. He has also been a coach with the Cambridge Lions since 2022, serving as the team's defensive backs coach, associate defensive coordinator, linebackers coach and defensive coordinator.
