This month’s feature honours the unique accomplishment of a recent former player.
Isaiah Adams attended Father MacLellan High School in Ajax and played football for the Durham Dolphins.
Heavily recruited by former WLU offensive coach Irv Daymond, Adams started his university football career at Laurier in 2018.
In his second season, he started all eight games.
After the COVID-19 pandemic wiped out his 2020 season and looked like it might even threaten the 2021 season, Adams transferred to Garden City Community College in Kansas and became a NJCAA D-1 All-American.
In 2022, he transferred to the University of Illinois. Playing in the very competitive Big-10 Conference, Adams started 25 games over the next two years.
That season, he was ranked as the 11th best guard in the nation and was a Big-10 All-Star.
Earlier this year, Adams was selected in the third round (71st overall) by the Arizona Cardinals. In a wonderfully ironic twist of fate, Adams’ first game will be at Buffalo on September 8, 2024. You can bet that a lot of his family and friends will be in attendance!
