Jesse Alexander played linebacker for the Golden Hawks from 2002 to 2006 and is arguably one of the greatest to play that position in school history.
Alexander's roots begin in Ghana, where his grandfather was born. He later settled in Buffalo.Â
From there, his father eventually moved to Kitchener to raise his family. Alexander and his brother Josh became local high school football stars at Eastview CI. Both went on to have great success at Laurier. During his playing career, Alexander was a two-time All-Canadian, and in 2006, he was the OUA defensive player of the year. Â
Most importantly, he was a two-time Yates Cup champion and, in 2005, he won a Vanier Cup.Â
After a brief CFL career with stops in Saskatchewan, Hamilton, and Winnipeg, Alexander returned to WLU as the team's linebackers coach.
In 2011, Alexander was named to Laurier football's Team of the Century. That same year, he was inducted into the Golden Hawks Hall of Fame.Â
For most of the past 15 years, Alexander has coached at the university level. He’s held the title of special teams coordinator at Laurier, York, and Waterloo, and defensive coordinator at Windsor.Â
Recently, he was the defensive coordinator with the MVP Football Academy, a 7-on-7 squad that has enjoyed great success across North America in the last couple of years.
