Beyond February: Craig Asiamah-Yeboah

Craig Asiamah-Yeboah played football for the Golden Hawks from 2012 to 2015. Prior to that, he played high school football for St. Marguerite d’Youville Secondary School and the Brampton Bulldogs, winning championships with both teams while playing wide receiver.

One cherished memory during his time at WLU was having his mom and sister in the crowd to witness him play in the 2014 Homecoming game when the Golden Hawks beat Carleton 53-3.

Having his family there that day was even more special given that his mom passed away in 2020.

Craig majored in health sciences and completed minors in psychology, chemistry, and biology. Upon his graduation, he has excelled in various positions within the provincial government. Currently, he is a Program Analyst for the Ministry of Children, Community, and Social Services.

Beyond professional commitments, Craig’s passion is refereeing football. Craig got a taste of officiating football in the Powder Puff tournaments on campus during university. In the spring of 2016, he responded to an invitation from Laurier's manager of football operations and head coach Michael Faulds to varsity athletes to get involved in officiating amateur football.

Craig is a member of the Toronto Football Officials Association and is entering his eighth year of officiating. One of his long-term goals is to be called up to the CFL while continuing to foster increased diversity in officiating at the professional level.
