Beyond February: Stacey Coray

Laurier football alum Stacey CorayAlong with Roan Kane, Stacey Coray was one of the first two Black players to play for Laurier's football team.

He joined the program in 1970 and was a member of the 1972 Yates Cup squad that was also reached the national championship game. 

He was drafted by Montreal but soon moved on to Toronto for two seasons. After that, he worked in sports marketing for WFAN and The Rogers Centre. He also held a Senior Management role in Partnership Development with the Toronto District School Board. 

Coray has served as a lecturer at Conestoga and Niagara College. He’s also the President of the Toronto Argonauts Alumni Association. Coray and his 1972 teammates will be honoured at Laurier's September 24 Homecoming game against Ottawa.
