Emerson Gourdet is a former defensive tackle and our final Beyond February feature for the 2022 calendar year.
Gourdet's first year on campus coincided with the arrival of Laurier's current manager of football operations and head coach, Michael Faulds. The 2013 season was challenging, as the Hawks finished with a 1-7 record, but Emerson's recruiting class would flip that into a 7-1 record and a Yates Cup victory three years later.
While speaking with Gourdet, he discussed the importance of his teammates, building positive relationships in the locker room, and working through all challenges.
He also found time during his student-athlete experience to start a clothing line called Rare Apex. Rare Apex is still operational and just recently released a new set of hats and t-shirts this past summer.
Since graduating, Gourdet has worked in talent recruitment for a few companies within the Greater Toronto Area. Currently, Emerson works as a Talent Advisor for the Lifemark Health Group.
