Over the course of Waterloo Lutheran/Wilfrid Laurier University’s football program’s history, numerous Golden Hawk players have been drafted or signed to CFL teams.
The following are the names of the 89 (75 drafted) former student-athletes who have been fortunate to have been drafted or played at least one CFL game as an undrafted free agent (and their draft/first team).
Ed Turek (1966) and Doug Strong (1969) hold special distinctions as the only Golden Hawks to have been drafted first overall.

** Denotes territorial exemption: From 1972 to 1982, each club had the right to pre-select two players from its region who would be exempted from the draft as Territorial Exemptions. Doing so, the first pick from 1973 to 1982 became the #19 overall selection in the Draft, rather than strictly #1.
