Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Participation Policy
Effective September 1, 2021, all OUA Members agree to comply with all pandemic-related policies instituted by the OUA. In addition, all Members agree to respect other institution’s COVID-19 hosting policies, approved vaccination exemptions, and other related COVID-19 policies and ensure that all participants selected to be involved in OUA-sanctioned events (from both the home and visiting teams) follow the relevant health and safety protocols. OUA Members will be expected to maintain a list of all participants involved in an OUA-sanctioned event or programming (i.e., student-athletes, coaches, support staff, athletic therapists, bus drivers, officials, minor officials, etc.) for each event for contact-tracing purposes.
Wilfrid Laurier University – Department of Athletics & Recreation COVID-19 Vaccination Policy
For the 2021/2022 academic terms, the University is requiring all student-athletes and student trainers (both Waterloo & Brantford Campuses and any visitors to our campus – including visiting teams, team personnel, fans, and student athletes) be fully vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine in order to participate/compete in varsity athletics.
All interuniversity Student-athletes, coaches, support staff, student trainers and all visitors, fans and visiting teams (including athletes, coaches and support staff) will be required to be fully vaccinated with two doses of a Health Canada-approved vaccine for a minimum of 14 days (please definitions below) before they can participate in university competition. Student-athletes, coaches, support staff, student trainers and all visitors, fans and visiting teams (including athletes, coaches and support staff) will be able to compete and/or attend competition if they are fully vaccinated (unless they have received an exemption for medical or human rights grounds by their university). Student-athletes, coaches, support staff, student trainers and all visitors, fans and visiting teams (including athletes, coaches and support staff) who are fully vaccinated will still be required to comply with additional protocols to ensure team and community safety. These protocols may include consistent mask-wearing and any other required health measures as directed by public Health.
Officials must complete the following attestation survey and present the results of the survey upon arrival to the Stadium (they will receive an email once you have completed the survey with verification that you will have to show staff prior to gaining entry to the facility. - Once you have completed you will receive an immediate email to the address you provided with the result (green “You are approved to come in” or red “You are not approved”). If it is red you are not allowed to come to campus and need to connect with me immediately.
- Officials will enter through the main entrance of the facility and show this attestation, where they will then be directed to their changeroom if available.
- All officials must be fully vaccinated in order to access Laurier’s campus and be present on game day (please note the definition of fully vaccinated above). Proof of vaccination will be required upon request.
What does unvaccinated or fully vaccinated mean?
Unvaccinated: Either an individual who has received one dose or no dose of an approved COVID-19 vaccine, or, an individual who has received their second dose, but 14 days has not yet passed.
Fully Vaccinated: An individual is considered fully vaccinated 14 days after their second dose in a 2-dose vaccination series.
